To render affordable and sustainable basic services to the community and internal departments by enhancing community participation, in collaboration with internal departments through partnership and consultation, in order to achieve good results and instil ownership.
Functional Responsibilities
The department facilitates infrastructure development, creates new infrastructure within its competence and maintains existing infrastructure. Core areas of focus include:
Project Management
Planning, coordination and management of municipal infrastructure projects.
Water & Sanitation
Provision and maintenance of water and sanitation services.
Electricity & Street Lighting
Electricity reticulation and distribution, and public street lighting.
Roads & Storm Water
Construction and maintenance of roads and storm-water drainage.
Building Plans & Quality Monitoring
Processing of building plans and monitoring of construction quality.
Town & Regional Planning
Spatial planning and town-and-regional planning across the municipal area.
