Standing Committees
Standing committees support Council oversight across the municipality's functional portfolios, reviewing performance and making recommendations to the Executive Committee and Council.
How Committees Work
Each committee is aligned to a functional portfolio of the municipality. Committees meet regularly to monitor service delivery and performance in their area, and to make recommendations that are escalated to the Executive Committee and to Council for decision.
Portfolio & Oversight Committees
Budget & Treasury
Financial management, the municipal budget, revenue, expenditure and supply chain.
Corporate Services
Human resources, administration, council support, records and information systems.
Infrastructure Development & Human Settlements
Roads, water, sanitation, electricity and housing delivery.
Community Services
Public health, environment, waste management, parks and public safety.
Economic Development, Tourism & Agriculture
Local economic development, tourism promotion and agricultural support.
Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC)
Independent oversight of municipal finances, performance and accountability.
