PLANT MACHINERY FOR ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY

Posted by in News | Comments Off on PLANT MACHINERY FOR ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY

Emalahleni Local Municipality recently received new plant machinery for roads construction and mantainance. This equipment will help to address the bad state of roads as constructing and maintaining gravel roads is one of the challenging issues due to the weather conditions which at times make it hard to reflect on the roads that were done after the rainy seasons. The life span of the roads is not easy to determine and as such a lot of work is done repeatedly on one and the same roads.

The set of four plant machinery is the smooth roller, grader and two TLB.

The machinery will respond to the mantainance plan in place that has been developed due to the state of our roads. In 2014-2015 financial year councillors were requested to submit a distance of three kilometres of the access roads which require mantainance in all seventeen wards.

The mantainance plan will be reviewed to include the reports on the state of our roads based on the assessment which was recently done. In 2014-2015 financial year we have developed a mantainance plan which overlapped to 2015-2016 financial year. The mantainance plan for 2016-2017 financial year and beyond is already in place and the equipment is procured at the right moment as this is at the beginning of the financial year.

As the local authority we have been doing our level best to ensure that with the limited resources we have all our villages (more than 200 villages) are attended regarding road construction and mantainance and this addition will help us to move with speed in addressing roads infrastructure related issues.

Due to the geographical location of our area, the mountainous areas as well as flat wet lands on certain villages storm water management is the required programme and as such serious damage of roads and dongas is the issue we deal with on daily basis.

We are pleased to have this equipment now as we will continue giving services to our people.
